Answers
1)  Q What students can be referred to the School Social Worker?
A
Any student in the West Warwick District can be seen by the School Social Worker.
2)  Q How do I refer a student to the Social Worker?
A
If you would like your student to be seen by the School Social Worker, please contact the students Guidance Counselor. The Guidance Counselor will fill out a referral form. Once the Social Worker receives the referral, the social worker will contact a parent to obtain permission and begin seeing the student as soon as possible.
3)  Q What about confidentiality?
A
Any information that a student talks about with a social worker is private unless the student gives permission for the information to be given out. The only time this rule is broken is with safety issues. If a student discloses information that is a safety risk, a parent is called and an administrator is called.
Examples are:
....A suicidal threat.
....A homicidal threat.
....A report of the student being abused.
....The student discloses they are injuring themselves.
....The student discloses they are involved in dangerous behaviors.
