News From Room 217: Welcome to my grade 2 class at Wakefield Hills Elementary School! I'm looking forward to meeting you all and working with you this year. Some things we will start the year with will be formulating classroom rules, review in all subjects and getting to know each other. We will be jumping right in with reading and math routines. We will also be doing formal reading assessments called PALS testing. As always if you have questions or concerns, please contact me. If you would like to meet with me early in the year, let me know. Help children to remember to wear sneakers and to dress appropriately for gym. 3. Students will be given weekly homework sheets with homework assignments. Please check it nightly to make sure your child has done his/her homework, and I will check it daily. If you have comments, concerns or notes for me, this sheet is a good place to write them, as I will look at it daily. Otherwise, put the note in your child's homework folder with homework. If your child knows we are checking on him/her, and keeping in contact with each other, they will learn to be more independent and responsible as the year goes on. 4. Any donations of the following would be greatly appreciated throughout the year, as we always run out of them quickly: tissues, baby wipes, paper towels, pencils, and hand sanitizer.
